Straight to the point! This production blog will be updated weekly to show our progress on the latest episode, minisode and any other animation production is in the works. Episodes usually take about 4 months to complete, but sometimes life happens and they can get pushed back. Much like what happened with the Shattered Heaven Act 1 Finale. This blog will be a way to show that all is well and to help keep everyone informed on the latest up to date news with production.

Screen shots of current scenes, sometimes animated gifs showing the clean up process. Rough sketches, storyboards (when applicable), and animatics as well.

Scene 1, 2, 4, 5 – 100% Cleaned up Animation wise
Scene 6 – 80% Cleaned up Animation wise
Scene 3 – Set to be put into clean up this week
It’s been almost a year since Episode 5 was released, what’s up with that?
Life. Is the short answer. Episode 6’s animatic for the entire episode was actually finished 2 months after Episode 5 was released. But considering what the episode meant to me as a creator, I wanted to take extra time with it to make sure it’s as good as it possibly can be at my current skill set.
Personal things happened in the Fall of 2015 and because of that, I lost around 2 months of time to work.
Certain scenes have been shown to a lot of professional colleagues for their opinions and advice to improve them. Various scenes have gone through multiple versions before finally coming to an agreement that there was nothing else left to do with them.
Episode 6 is also the longest episode in the series, clocking in around 22 minutes.
I’m proud of this finale.
What comes next?
After Episode 6 is released, the first Act (season) of Shattered Heaven comes to a close. There will be another minisode released shortly after. However, once that is out, Dragon Star, another animated series I’m set to work on with Kira Buckland and Chris Niosi will be taking up my time. There will be a hiatus between Shattered Heaven Act 1 and Act 2. The hiatus will last as long as it takes to finish the 3 episodes of Dragon Star that are scripted.
